David Rose is a melbourne based comedian and writer.
Hi, it’s David. I’m supposed to write a bio in the third person to convince you of how great I am at comedy. Personally, I think that the best thing for you to do would be to see me perform comedy live. A website designed by a comedian who failed year 8 mathematics is not going to convince you. That said, I wouldn’t recommend following me to every gig. That would be boring for you and disturbing for me. I like fans as much as the next millennial narcissist, but I prefer to have personal space. I’m actually writing this alone in my office with the door shut, which borders on blissful for me. Being alone is one of the best experiences in the world. That’s probably a weird thing to say from a person who entertains others for a living.
Okay, whatever. Here’s a short bio:
I started performing comedy in 2013, when I entered into the RAW Comedy Competition. I was a preliminary finalist, and it excited me so much, I determined to keep on performing. In 2013 I also starred in the Monash Law Revue, which was funded by Steve Vizard.
In 2015 I was a Victorian Finalist in the RAW Comedy Competition, and a cast member in the Law Revue at Trades Hall during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. That year, I also appeared at the Festival Club as part of the 10 for 10 show curated by the festival.
In 2016 I directed the Monash Law Revue, and was selected to perform at the Monash University Winterfest alongside Tommy Little and Nazeem Hussein. In 2017 I toured my stand-up around Germany and Singapore, and in 2018 I appeared at Joker’s Comedy Club in Tasmania, wrote and presented a piece on hearing loss for ABC’s Tonightly, and sold out a run at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with my show Just Kidding!
I’ve written for Cracked.com, the Victorian Government’s Youth Central, and TV’s The Leak.
I currently run a series of highly successful gigs around Melbourne at the McKinnon Hotel, Mitcham Hotel, Brunwsick Green and Red Eye Bar. Previous guests include Jimeoin, Dave Hughes, Claire Hooper, Denise Scott, Fiona O’Loughlin, Steve Hughes and more.
I’m currently working on a sandwich to eat for lunch.
